Pick Bracket collects as little as possible. Here's what we do and don't store.
We use Plausible Analytics to count page views and see which pages people visit. Plausible is GDPR-friendly, doesn't use cookies, and doesn't track individual users. We can see "100 people visited the homepage today," not "Kevin from Knoxville visited at 3:42pm."
We may display ads from Google AdSense on the home page and post-tournament screen (not on the bracket itself). Google may set cookies for ad personalization. You can opt out at adssettings.google.com.
The names you type in for tournament players are stored as-is on our servers in JSON files. If you type real names, those names are technically "personal data" — keep that in mind. Most of our users use first names or nicknames.
We use your browser's localStorage (similar to a cookie) to remember things like your active tournament and your personal home page slug. This data lives on your device only — we don't read it. Clearing your browser data wipes it.
Tournaments delete themselves after 7 days. Personal homes delete after 90 days of no visits. If you want a personal home deleted immediately, visit it and click "delete this home" (coming soon — for now, ignore it and it'll auto-delete).
Pick Bracket doesn't collect personal information from children, and there's no signup that would let us. If a kid runs a tournament and types real names, those follow the rules above (auto-deleted after 7-90 days).
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. For material changes (e.g., adding a new analytics provider), we'll note it on the homepage for at least 7 days.
